I am a great fan of Brian Haig, the tongue-in-cheek raconteur style and the knowledge that shines through in most of his novels. In this one, though, I was disappointed because although the novel is supposed to be set in the early 's, the descriptions of Moscow, the prevalence of the mafia, the violent crime, the look of the city, the poverty and the chaos were only a correct description.
